"Casino Nights Preparatory Pencil Sketch" 

"Casino Nights Preparatory Pencil Sketch" is an original sketch by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson. 

The sketch shows a scene in front of Wigan Casino before a Saturday all nighter. Back in the 1970's and early 80's coaches packed with teenagers travelled from all over the country to dance to rare Northern Soul records. The scene outside the Casino was always electric - most people with hold alls, others with record cases all looking forward to the all nighter. "Casino Nights Preparatory Pencil Sketch" takes you back to those times!!

As the name suggests, the sketch is a preparatory work for several larger water colour and acrylic paintings.

Neil has been into the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's, all his art is drawn from memory. He was a regular at the Casino  and many other Northern Soul clubs throughout the 1970's. His art is regarded by many people as an iconic part of the Northern Soul scene.

The sketch has been completed on 180 gram art paper, and measures 27 cm wide by 18 cm tall.
