"On the Floor at Wigan Casino - Preparatory Painting" - An Original Acrylic Painting by Northern Soul Artist Neil Thompson.

The painting shows a scene on the dance floor at Wigan Casino. For those who were regulars at the Casino, as Neil was, the painting shows the left hand side of the dance floor just in front of the stage. Over 20 dancers are out on the floor dancing to the Northern Soul classics. The painting really brings to life the energy of the Casino and Northern Soul. Just looking at the painting and you could be on that dance floor! There's vibrancy in every brushstoke!!

"On the Floor at the Casino - Preparatory Painting" is one on Neil's smaller paintings - it measures 13 cm by 13 cm and has been completed on 250 gram art paper. As the name suggests, the painting is a preparatory work for a bigger painting.

Neil has been into the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's, all his art is drawn from memory. He was a regular at the Casino and many other Northern Soul clubs throughout the 1970's. His art is regarded by many people as an iconic part of the Northern Soul scene.
