"Dancing to the Beat" is an original oil painting by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson. 

The painting shows a scene on a Northern Soul dance floor. Eleven dancers are out on the floor dancing their own interpretation to the beat of the music. The colours are vibrant - the painting really brings to life the energy of Northern Soul. Just looking at the painting and you could be on that dance floor! There's vibrancy in every brushstoke!!

"Dancing to the Beat" measures 27 cm wide by 18 cm tall and has been completed on 250 gram art paper.

Neil has been into the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's, all his art is drawn from memory. He was a regular at the Casino and many other Northern Soul clubs throughout the 1970's. His art is regarded by many people as an iconic part of the Northern Soul scene.
