"The start of the Night" is an original oil painting by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson. The painting shows a scene on a railway station, a Saturday night, teenagers waiting for a train to head down to an all nighter. This is the 1970's and this could be a scene from so many railway stations, teenagers gathering with hold alls and record cases to catch the train to their favourite Northern Soul venue.

The painting will bring back lots of memories, it's sure to bring a smile to your face!

Neil has been part of the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's. He was a regular at the Casino and most of the other big Northern Soul clubs for many years. All his art is done from memory - he captures the detail of the Northern Soul scene brilliantly!
