"12.30am, Outside Wigan Casino"

An original oil painting of the outside of Wigan Casino.

"12.30am, Outside Wigan Casino" is an original signed oil painting by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson.

From the 23rd September 1973 - the date of the first all-nighter at Wigan Casino, the clubs two massive front doors wouldn't officially open until 2am, teenagers would wait in the cold Lancashire air for hours to get into the club. The long wait inline served as a social ritual where fans from different towns traded stories about rare soul records, travelling and gear before stepping inside to dance until 8am.

Back in the 1970's this is how it was - the best nights ever!! Re-live the tangible feeling of being at this geat Northern Soul club!!

When you buy a piece of art by Neil you are buying more than an object - you are buying his experience of being on the Northern Soul scene for decades, you are also buying hours of experimentation, frustration and eventually a moment of sheer joy - when the art is spot on, as we think it is with "12.30am, Outside Wigan Casino".

Close up details from the painting can be seen in images 2, 3 and 4.

The painting measures 41 cm wide by 28 cm tall and has been completed on 250 gram fine art paper.

This is an original piece of art, there are no copies or prints.
